Why? Were your originals one worn out or something?
Gaskets are inexpensive and work best the first time, call it cheap insurance.

HD part# 51564-09 and I love it. A backrest makes all the difference on long rides.
(1) Riders with longer legs have a tendency to sit further back in the saddle and even though backrests are adjustable, they will move you forward a little. I've found that what I lose in legroom (which isn't much), I gain in correct posture which really helps on long rides besides, that's what highway pegs are for. JMO
(2) I think all HD rider backrests are quick detachable so take it with you or throw it in the saddlebag if you are going to be away from your bike for a while.
I did the FM 2:1 install. It took more time to get the old exhaust off than it did to put the new one on, about 2 1/2 hrs in all, no rush. I used new OEM exhaust gaskets, very carefull to follow install and tourque proceedures, but when I removed it soon after for ceramic coating, I found the gasket was squeezed into the port, restricting flow. Next install I used the SE gasket, the FM pipe is very tightly fitted to start with and the SE gasket being thinner, I experienced contact between the front pipe and the motor nosecone down by the brake pedal. I doubled up on the SE gaskets and the issue was resolved. I have had it back apart since and no gasket squeeze into the exhaust port. Naturally this is just my experience OEM gaskets may work fine for you. As the others said, mounting everything loose and tighten a little at a time so everything settles into its natural and unstrained position. Also when swapping the flanges onto the new pipe, I noticed the retainers were all rusted and remained sprung when I removed them from the original pipe. I tried a gapless stainless retaining ring from McMaster Carr, inexpensive and it worked like like a charm. I posted a thread about it but nobody really took interest in it. check it out https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...g-upgrade.html
