I had a 97 RK with the Evo, put a Mikuni Carb on it and loved it...If I hadn't lost the place to park it before I got married, I would probably still have it. Ran Great and Sounded Great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a clean well maintained Evo Bike.

...of all the motor designs HD has had...I would say that late model EVO's 90-98 were probably the most dependable power plants they ever had..new bikes have more power stock, for sure..but aren't as "trouble free" in my opinion...

i have an 08 streetglide that's been great, and a couple of weeks ago i got a 92 fxr with the evo motor. i'm looking forward to riding it on shorter rides. those evo's are much simpler than the twin cams.

I just trade in a 96 FLHP Rk with 25k miles for an 06 Electra Glide. The 96 was a great ride. It always started and ran great. Only problem was a weaping head gasket and a lack of power. Very common problem with EVO's. If you have the money I would buy newer. What a difference 10 years makes. Ride safe.

I have owned both an early model and a late model EVO. I still have the late model EVO and a TC95. The late model EVO's are the best motor HD ever built in my opinion.

My bad. Weaping base gasket not head gasket.

I love mine still...has about 87K miles on her. Replace the lifters every 25K miles and the cam bearings once, it will last you a life time.

I've got an EVO. Ride it nearly every day. 98 RKC. 33k miles in the last couple of years. If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it all over again.

My 89 ultra has a little over 258,000 on the odometer, all my buddies give me a hard time about the old girl, but she has always got me home with out too much fuss.
