No difference at all if you put the rear shocks from the ultra onto the streetglide. That's the only difference. Saying that, the streetglide has a MUCH harsher ride with it's stock shocks because they have an inch less travel and therefore are much stiffer to keep from bottoming out. I put ultra shocks on my streetglide and it rides great now. There are several EXTENSIVE threads on this topic if you search.
- the good news is that without the tourpak, the bike feels lighter and more nimble.
to compare same year versions, the tourpak and rear shocks are the major differences- ultra with the detachable tour pak could be a way to go for looks if you already have an ultra.
if you are looking at one model vs the other to purchase, what value do you put on the tourpak, rear speakers, fairing lowers, CB radio ?
those are the major differences beyond trim & badges
and ABS brakes, security system and cruise control maybe.
My friend on a street glide didn't like the wind buffetting from the short windshield at highway speeds. An easy fix he just needs a different windshield.
The stock SG shocks are fine for me, but I definetly notice a difference with loaded tourpack. I don't ride with the tourpack much, so its not a problem.
I admit that I haven't added air in the shocks to see if that changed the ride with the tourpack. I typically like to ride between 25 to 30 psi without a tourpack.
