thanks for all the replies but my real question is about the difference in model years pros and cons to each year, I could do a 11 but if there is only a matter of the power pack between the 10 and 11 that wouldn't sway me to spend an extra 4 grand so I am more interested in the model year comparison and actual rider reviews
If I were you I would avoid the StreetGlide or Roadglide Custom. Both have lowered suspensions and the ride quality sucks...especially in comparison with the rest of the touring models in my opinion.
I'd personally look at a Road Glide Ultra or Road King Classic. Get the 103 engine that came out recently. Or get an '09 with the new frame and see if the 96 is enough engine for you....if not you can have the 103 upgrade done by the dealer.
Just a thought - you mentioned you are interested in getting a touring bike. If you haven't done so already do a ride comparision on a couple of FL bikes like the SG, Roadglide and Limited Ultra. Rent each for 1 day and ride for the normal type of riding your planning on doing with it, then decide. You'll most likely answer any ?? you might have and make the best decision possible.
Regarding 10's vs 11's I would say either would be pretty much the same, although HD made some changes to the SG seat that most people prefer on the 11 and aside from that the pipes (2n1) vs. duals...duals balance the bike more IMO and the 103 motor option - proven on police bikes and a great option. The Limited is a good value for the $$ if you like the total package.
My
Hey guys thanks for all of the info I picked up my 09 Street Glide yesterday and took it out today and really enjoyed the ride as far as performance being a problem as a couple of people spoke of I am was not looking for a sport bike with a fairing I was looking for a touring bike to put some miles on
