for those that have the 103's with ACR's and you are wondering what to do with the connections that clip to the bracket, I cut the ears off and hit it with a little black paint.
OK - read these posts, and I'd like to install the S/E hi-flow on my 2011 Deluxe, to match my newly purchased Vance and Hines Big Shots (black). I've seen a bunch of part #'s but can't clearly find the one for my bike!
Removed mine without lifting or removing tank for an older FM AC install. Yes it was tedious with the wrench. I've started seeing new AC backing plates on the market that do not requre the removal of this plate. I think FM's new plate and others are like this. Just depends on the design of the backing plate crankcase breather connections. Don't know about the SE plates.
I just installed an Arlen Ness Big Sucker on my 2011 Ultra and their instructions said to leave that bracket on. I did and had no problems.
I had big suckers on my previous two bikes....they fit with the stock plate in place...I threw on the SE air cleaner and ran into the same problem...you have to remove the stock plate...I didn't remove my tank though, I loosened the back end and was able to reach in and get to the bolts.
I just unbolted rear tank bolts and propped the new filter under it as it was the perfect height to access the bracket attachement. I have allen head sockets and I was able to loosen the rear bracket bolt with a socket wrench but the front was too tight so I just used vise grips around the socket head and they came out very easy.
Tips: Place duct tape or similar along the bottom of your tank to protect it from tools. I was a little skeptical of the torque ratings of breather and filter bolts and just got them good and tight.
I wonder if you should have a rain sock as the filter is pretty exposed back there?
