I unbolted mine from the bracket and ran the stock antenna up the saddle bag rail then along the frame with the wiring. Zip tied it all up and works good.
Can't guarantee it works as good since I don't use the radio a lot but haven't noticed any drop off and only cost me a few zip ties and a $2 plug it fill the back hole.
