Last night was the night I installed all of the parts on my Ultra that I had collected since last October. I installed the following:
Aleron hand grips
Streamliner shifter peg
Streamliner rear brake pad
Streamliner foot pegs (as highway pegs)
Heel shifter rod cover
Head light trim ring
Passing lamp trim rings
Turn signal trim rings
When I was done I was amazed at the pile of trash that was left over from the HD parts packaging. I wish HD would just put their parts in a small brown box that is easy to recycle. There was so much plastic, boxes, boxes inside of boxes and bags that I filled a 13 gallon kitchen garbage can. I'm trying to be environmentally friendly and recycle...I wish the HD packaging was environmentally friendly as well.
BTW...the bike looks great, the parts look great and fit great. Next weekend the FM stage 1 kit goes on!
At least everything its packed in is recycleable. The key is to get that stuff to the proper facility. Here in Stamford CT we are spoiled. They have a highly inclusive single stream recycling program that allows you to put an amazing amount of materials into one big can.
Packing materials like this are the only way to ship products via the conventional carriers cheaply and without damage.
Your internal combustion engine causes air pollution. Which is not environmentally friendly. So for a small fee (paid by you to me) I'll be more than happy to recycle it into my garage. If not your not as environmentally conscious as you think. So just recycle your trash, and stop wining.
A "recycling" or "trash" thread, eh? This could be a first...
Hell, I guess it's no further out there than people asking for flippin fashion advice, or talking about assless chaps or "what jacket they should get", eh?
Sounds like cool bling you've installed! Hope the weather clears-out up there soon!! Looks like I got out of New Haven just in time. ;^)
Don't forget most of the add-ons are from over seas
and they don't give a sh$t about our environment or theirs so packaging isn't even a thought. It's amazing how big a wrapper comes with a small part (and not just for the bikes) Seems there is no shortage of plastic in the world.
...one thing that bugs me is when they use a box the size of a DVD Case...for a doo-dad the size of a clothes-pin...just so it looks good hanging on the accessory wall at the dealer...
