Default Ultra wheelie....

My first Ultra. This past weekend we finally got some decent weather in Michigan (45*+ sunshine). So, a group of us went rolling. When we left from lunch, I got on the throttle right from a dead stop and much to my surprise, the front end left the ground. I let off the gas immediately being surprised and all, so she was only off the ground a couple inches. My better half was on the back, but only weighs in at around 135, I'm 180.
I was surprised the front end came up like that and didn't think my mods listed on sig were enough to lift this big heavy beast.

Anyone else enjoy such a surprise?

Default Can do!!

I just like you was very suprised and had it where I could do them on demand, all though very seldom, it is kinda fun. Then I went from the Michelins to Dunlops and the fun is over until I wear these out. Guess I shoulda known. To plead my ignorance, my-no-brother-good-in-law had the front he took off when his was new so I used it and bought one to match. Oh well chalk that up to a learning experience.

Messing around with my grandson on his crotch rocket last year (he now has a sportster) I did the same thing and was suprised. He laughed as he rode away from me.

I lifted mine while puttering around at White Sands last year.. Only kept the wheel up for a couple feet, and it sure wasn't a tail dragger, but it was fun..

I suppose givin the extra weight of the tour pack and it's hardware + the saddle bags packed + my OL... there is considerable weight back on that rear end.
I don't recall ever getting my front wheel off the ground on my RoadStar 1600 over the last 10 yrs of ownership. Then again, it didn't have all that extra weight on the rear.

I ride with a bunch of guys that own various bikes (non-Harley) and they are always kidding me about having the least amount of power. Often times they're up on one wheel, and I only smile knowing that at some point, they'll learn to enjoy the smiles per miles as opposed to the potential danger riding on one wheel can bring. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one of those new 120R motors pumping out tons of torque, it's just not necessary for me to enjoy the ride. Nice to hear the newer ones pull a wheel without really trying though.
