My wife loves the tour pak and won't ride with a detachable backrest anymore. I have a mustang solo seat for when she isn't with me. If she wants to ride, I drop on the mustang passenger seat and tour pak and in less than 5 minutes we are ready to go. Plus the extra storage space for trips is awesome.
The best part is I can install it in a few minutes If my wife wants to ride. It's nice not having the added weight for solo rides but, I can throw it on to run to the store too. There are no issues that I can think of, enjoy.
Only issues I had were with my 06 the docking was the old style, the tour pak mount would dig into the rubber dock points. After time the pak would wobble and I would have to buy new rubber dock points. The newer design seems to address that with the new frame design dock points.
I added the chopped tour back with the detachable hardware. It works great, and I'm one of the guys that don't take it off very much. Wife rides alot with me, and she really likes it. In retrospect, I'd probably go with the King if I did it again, but I'm very satisfied with the chopped, and I much prefer the look.
Bought my King with a detachable on it, love to ride solo without it but the little woman has to have the Queen's throne, she detests the backrest I bought for her so we wouldn't need the Pak.
As other's said, great comfort item for the passenger. Never noticed any vibration, but I only have it mounted when riding two-up. I suppose it would vibrate some without a passenger leaning against it.
Since I installed the King Tour Pack on my 07 FLHT, it hasn't been off. I have entertained the idea of trying to buy a permanent mount from a member, and selling my docking system, backrest, and luggage rack. My wife almost always is behind me and she loves the King Tour Pack backrest.
I have the detachable and no issues, I only use it on long trips or when my wife decides to ride with me instead of her own bike. I also have a seat for a 2011 EGC that I put on when she rides, only takes 5 minutes to change the set up.
