Default chrome moly or aluminum

I am probably going to wind up with the SE adjustable pushrod kit which uses chrome moly. However, which is better aluminum or chrome moly and why?

Don't know about pushrods, but chrome moly is a steel alloy. It has excellent tensile strength and load bearing strength. Aluminum has neither. That's why everything made with aluminum rather than steel reguires more thickness and still won't have any ability to spring back to its original shape once bent.

In years prior, people tried to reduce weight of the pushrod thinking it would better control valve float.

A quick look at pro-stock drag racers proves this has been DISPROVED, they run 1/2 or bigger pushrods now and ignore the weight.

Pushrod deflection is a much greater issue, giving up significant lift and duration on race motors, and to some extent stockers as well.

Use the chrome moly, it will deflect less and added weight on the cam side of the rocker (compared to the alum) has been found to be non issue, far less important than if you added weight on the valve side of the rocker arm

Aluminum is weak in comparison, put steel in the motor!
