Default Progressive drop in fork spring kit.

Wanting to lower the front end 1" and ran across the "Drop In" front spring kit Progressive offers. Watched the video for a Dyna and it seems very simple and no oil change or front end dismantle. It will be more than 30 min as explained on the Dyna because of the chrome covers and my Road Tech Stereo on the risers.

Anyone have any experience with this system? Pros and Cons, I'm about to pull the trigger.

If you're talking about the 10-2003 "drop in" kit, I just installed one in my '10 Ultra. So far I've only been able to put about 50 miles in the seat but it seems to work for me.

The ride is a great deal firmer, not sure yet if it will turn out to be too firm or not.

Watch out for the spacer length. On the Classic's and Ultra's, instructions say no spacer. That's what I went with first. Too low, didn't like it at all. Went back in and added a 1" spacer, much better.

I also went with Bel-Ray 10w fork oil which I know adds to the ride firmness.

30 minutes to an hour would be about right. That is unless you have a EG of some type, then you have to pull the forks.

Just my .02 worth!

I did this install myself last spring on my 09 roadglide and put on approximately 3,000 miles and I am very happy with it.

The difference between the dyna and touring, besides all the accessories from the front end having to be removed is that I needed to remove the front wheel, front fender and handlebars in order to remove the forks from the top. Since, I needed to remove the fork, I knew that there was a possibility that the oil would somehow spill out. So, I put aside two dixie cups to measure the amount of oil for each side of the tubes (forks) and pour the oil in each cut. I needed a table brace or clamp to hold firm the tube as I removed the top nuts (caps), but remember that the tube has some pressure and you need to hold firm. Once the cup is remove then you can take out the spring and replace as instructed with the new progressive drop-in. (For the 1 each drop, I cut the pvc pipe down to half an each). I then grabbed two more dixie cups to measure out the same amount and replace with new oil. I then tighten with the nut and reinstall everything back on the bike, done. I really took my time on that project, so I can't say how long the job was. Bring a six pack to the garage and have fun.
