I just purchased the ESP from Jim Palmer at Kutter HD. 09 Ultra.
$1,485 Grand Total. No Sales Tax.
My local dealer wanted over $2,100 (including sales tax) for the same plan and would not negotiate.
This is for the 7 year plan which seems to confuse some people. This means that this plan will provide coverage for 5 ADDITIONAL years AFTER my factory 2 year warranty runs out. I bought my bike in March of 2009 and I now have extended coverage through March 2016.
The $1,485 price from Kutter also INCLUDES the Tire and Wheel coverage for the complete term.
Contrary to popular belief, this is not an Extended Warranty and it is not a Maintenance Plan. If you do this, make sure to verify that you are buying the only authentic HD Factory Approved ESP.
You can buy it right up until your regular 2 year warranty expires. I paid around $1500 for 5 years last spring before my 2 year expired. When you pay $20K, what's $300 a year. Worth every cent IMHO. A buddy had a gasket go bad and the labor to pull the motor and tranny was almost $1400. No need for me to use mine yet, but I feel better knowing it's there.
Forgot to ask this in my previous post. There was a mention of a $50 dollar deductible each time I walk in with a new warranty claim. Is that right now-a-days? I ask because when I had my older bike and I went in for a few minor warranty issues, I was never asked for anything other than my warranty card. This question does indeed apply to the HD ESP plan, not one of the "other" plans.
So, have I and many of my friends been freaky lucky and never been charged a deductible or is there something different/new, or did I possibly misunderstand what I was told?
$50 ded depends on what is actually getting replaced. for example, no ded on wheel or tire replacement(s) - that was the example HD underwriter (CNA Ins) explained to me. grab a brochure or download one, everything listed inside
Jim Palmer at Kutter HD will usually meet or beat any dealer on the warranty price and can sell it to you no matter what state you live in....great service
Warranty policies have changed this year. You can now purchase extended coverage after your factory warranty has run out. They will take the bike in and do a full inspection and then allow you to purchase. It is more expensive than when still under the factory. I have purchased the warranty on my last 3 bikes and it has always paid off.
+ Whatever number we are on with Jim Palmer at Kutter. I live in Va and just purhcased my ESP from him last week. Great guy to work with and made the process easy.
