11 sg,last week, 115 and climbing,,at night, cool air,, but it took about 1.5 miles to get it up there..man things happen fast,,had to slow down,,car in front of me...thankfully!
I would be concerned about stability at speeds around 100, Harleys aren't the most aerodynamic bikes in the world. Also high speed wobbles, I recall that being a distinct possibility years ago. The only thing that will slow down my 999R Ducati is the limiter, has nothing to do with EPA. I've had at a comfortable 155 mph and the bike was on a Sunday cruise. 140mph was common at the race track, especially those with a longer front straight. I believe the limiter is set at around 168 -172mph. I'm not inclined to do that stuff anymore since a bad crash I had, but moreso thinking about a deer jumping out in front of me.
what is the last thing that goes through a bug's mind when it hits your windshield? Same as what will happen when some one pulls out in front of you when you are going ***** out full speed...
I normally find that 5 over legal speed is good for me in most instances, unless I need warp drive to avoid bad situations.
If I wanted something to get out on the open road and fly I would've bought a crotch rocket instead. Just can't see myself ever doing that.
And the way I look at it:
The better I take care of my bike - The better it will take care of me.....
Like it says in my sig : Ride Safe - Ride Often or you could:
Ride Stupid - Ride Less
I must be getting old, I have no desire to go over 100, had it up to 90 the other day and asked myself, what the f*** are you doing, dropped it back to 70.
well yes i agree about the a hole that may pull out in front of you also, thats why i will go run it down the raceway drag strip to see what it will do if feel the need to check top speed. atleast ill know someone cant pull infront of me.
