Use the gear that the engine will pull closest to peak power rpm. Sixth is way too high at about 26mph/1,000rpm, so try fifth. If it will pull say 5,000rpm and when you change to top gear speed drops, you are as close as matters to flat out.

I`ll let you all know in a month or so........ My mechanic pulled the stocker on his 09' FLHX for a 120R. He said it's rated @ 140hp but he says nowhere close to that... That being said, if he can get it to 140mph - I'm pretty sure a Hyabusia will be towing it..... Just sayin'........

PEI- you don't have a road long enough to find top speed! ha.

It's all about wind resistance- big dumb old bagger with all those rough edges is pretty hard to power.
And to tell the truth, I have not bothered on the 09

My '95 80" Evo would run 115 loaded, my FXRP will run 140.

problem with the fairing is it gets pushed up at speeds above 85ish and the front end unloads, less traction...less control...

Spedo's not that accurate on my bike. My Garmin showed 104 and the speedo was showing something like 110.. Garmin is more accurate..

Hit 103 MPH on my 07 Ultra Classic at 3700 RPM on the way home from work a couple weeks ago. It wasn't in no hurry to get up there, but felt like it could have went to 110 at least. Course that was on the speedo. Garmin might be a little different. I did notice the front end rise just a little.

I must be getting old, I have no desire to go over 100, had it up to 90 the other day and asked myself, what the f*** are you doing, dropped it back to 70.

Not very impressive if you check it on a gps. You probably would not be able to get away from any production auto or truck if you were riding two up. It's a Harley what do you expect? Now install a 120R and you probably can beat some mini vans.
