no matter how good a rider you are, or how long you've ridden, there will perhaps be a time when you're tired after a long ride, and then is when you'll realize why the crash bar is there. it's so easy to tip over if you apply the front brake when the front wheel is turned a bit off center. on the way home when i bought my streetglide i was thinking the same thing. heck i been riding motorcycles since i was in jr high school, and have owned several harleys through the years. sure nuff, i pulled into my acreage and i tipped my brand new streetglide over in the grass. that's why the crashbar will remain on my bike. just imagine what sort of damage i'd have had if it weren't for the crash bar.

I took mine off as soon as I picked the bike up. You can see it in my sig block. I always see people saying that you shouldn't the bars off but the softails, dynas, and sporties do not come with them and there is not a reason to rush out and buy them. Do your bike the way you like it.

This is true, I remember when I first bought the bike, we had a rainy summer, I came into my aunts summer place which the driveway is made up of grass and pine needles. I went to make a U turn (without even touching the front brake) and the wet grass in front of the tire did this accordion fold landing the bike on the crash bar before I even knew what happened. No damage other then a scuff on the crash bar! The crash bar did its job. Since then, I replaced it with the mustache bars because I like the looks of them, but I will keep mine on the bike.

+1. I will keep mine too. Just went with a lower profile for a better look.

Check my sig pic, and here's one more. Mine came off the day I bought the bike too. I might live to regret it, but I certainly like the look better.

I like my bar. Chrome that is already there and gives me a place to hang my footpegs for those long trips.

This is true. I have those snap on elephant ear lowers that I keep in my saddle bags. When it rains, they keep my feet completely dry.
