Default Tires

Im looking for replacement tires that will give my misses the most mileage. Since motorcycle tires dont have treadwear ratings like car tires I need some advice based on personnal experience.

The choices are F: 130-90-16, 150-80-16, R: 180-65-16, 180-70-16, 200-60-16.

Should I run a rear on the front mounted backwards?

Any advantage to the larger tire on the front?

Are the lower profile rear tires a softer compound that will wear faster?

Any better wear based on tire brand.

I have a riding buddy with a Ultra Classic, he has 17k on his oem front Dunlop.

the best i've found when it comes to overall performance and wear is the dunlop elite 3's i'm sure you'll get a lot of other replies concerning how long the elite 3's last. they're far better than the stock d402's that came on my bike.

I would not recommend putting a rear on the front. Ever. They are made differently for a reason. If you do go with the Elite 3's, Motorcycle Maniac Store has a lot of different sizes here http://www.motorcyclemaniacstore.com...y/4704/elite-3

You listed many sizes. Dunlop E3's only go to 160's in a 16". For the larger sizes then would be the Dunlop American Elite. Do a thread search on E3 and American Elite to see the many postings on them to get idea of mileage people have been getting as it is very subject and based on riding style, riding type and road conditions .

It's not clear what bike you are fitting new tyres to? Do you want front and/or rear? I wouldn't fit a modern rear tyre on the front, either way around!
