Default HK firmware update for DVD compatibility?

Any HK firmware update for DVD compatibility? Sure would be nice! Could pack a lot of MP3's onto a single sided DVD if there was a firmware update.

You can put 150+ MP3s on a CD.

Gonna take more than a firmware update to play DVD's on a CD player.

Yeah, and you can put thousands of songs on an iPod (or other media player)

It would be nice if the HK was a DVD drive and probably a very minimal ,if any, price difference. Yes, I do have an iPhone, iPod and a shuffle but it sure would be convenient if the radio was DVD based.

To read DVDs would require a hardware change. Different type of laser.

When you guys are talking about DVD capable it seems there are 2 different meanings. One would be capable of playing DVD movies. The other being capable of accessing 4 gigs + of data, music or whatever.

I have never tried to burn an MP3 disk on a DVD disk but if you could do it thousands of songs would fit. I just curious if it could be done or if that's what Cheiron means by 'different type of laser'.

my interest is in data (MP3s). silly to not have the capability in 2011, cost dif is negligible unlike 20 years ago

Yea, but try to imagine finding a certain song you wanted to hear and its song number 2,497.
