I really like the road king custom, except for the bags. Anyone know if the hard bags can replace the leather bags on any road king?
What I'm getting at is swapping bags without any mods. Just twist off the leather bags and twist on the hard bags.
Thanks.
I have a Road King Classic and I switch between my hard leather bags and a set of cop bags at least once a year. I have to reposition the rear top mount but that's it. It's also a good idea to check your "pins" once in a while to make sure they aren't getting "sprung". Easy to straighten the ends out with pliers though.

I'll trade you straight up - Your leather Custom for my Hard saddlebags off my Street Glide.
I swap back and forth between the RK Classic leather bags and the color matched bags. Takes about 3 minutes to adjust the top mounts and you're good to go.
Don't want to step on your thread but I think anyone interested in changing out bags might be interested in my question. My '09 Road King Classic has the leather bags and the factory brackets for a sissy bar/tour pac. When you fully open the top of the bag, it hits a screw head on the bracket. There is a worn spot on both bags, bad enough for leather bags but could be very bad for hard bags. Is this a common problem and does it happen with hard bags? Thanks
