I have a '10 Street Glide with a Stage 1, Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner and V&H Pro Pipe. I love the looks of the pipe and the performance, however, the sound is killin' me. It's just too loud for long rides (and I do them quite often).
So here's a low cost option I'm thinking about.
1. Take my stock 2-1 header to an Indy and have them cut the head pipe to remove the cat. material and then re-weld it.
2. Remove Pro Pipe and install the now "catless" stock header.
3. Purchase and install a Jackpot Power Tube slip-on (or some other 2-1 slip-on that I like the sound).
Assuming this is a viable option, do you think I'd have to re-dyno the engine after new exhaust is installed or will the SERT have the capacity to handle the change without a re-dyno.
Anyone out there running with a Jackpot Power Tube? How do you like it??
You don't want to eliminate the cat unless you plan to set your SERT to run open-loop all the time. I've been told by my dyno tuner that there will be some cross-talk between the two 02 sensors and the bike will be fighting the tune all the time.
If you turn off the sensors, no problem. If you had a Power Commander there would be no issues, as they don't use the narrow band sensors on the bike.
I personally think you'd be miles ahead selling the Pro-Pipe and getting a Supertrapp Supermeg. 2-1, makes good power, and quiet when you want it to be...

Only true on the 10 & 11 factory pipes as the O2 sensors for each cyl are located real close to each other with one on a bend which can cause interference w/ flow results. On the V & H Pro-pipe the sensors are located in different exhaust tubes before the merge.
