So I'll be doing a cam change when I get home and I currently have a V&H Pro Pipe installed. Is it worth the extra $$$ to install a Bassani or should I keep my current exhaust? I've modified the stock baffle by cutting off the entire "end cap" that closes it off and installed torque cones...been running that for a while. Just don't wanna give up anything I can possibly gain by leaving the Pro Pipe on if there is a better 2-1.
Fatcat if I were to change the pipe. But your current pipe will probably be fine. A proper dyno will be more beneficial than changing the pipe after your cam upgrade.
Thanks for the opinions, but I really don't like the look of the D&D's muffler. There is a set of Bassani's that I can get a hold of for a pretty heavy discount...just don't know if it's worth the extra coin to swap my 2-1 for another 2-1.
Take the money you were thinking about spending on new pipes and put it toward some headwork...I assume you were getting a tune anyway after the cams
^^What he said. Over the years, I've heard more than a few respected dyno tuners say something like "the difference between various quality 2 into 1 pipes isn't a lot when it comes to numbers. Find one that you like the look and the sound of and run it."
Unless you want looks ,which I personally don't care for the bassani pipes, performance wise you will notice nothing as the pro pipe is a well designed pipe. You may gain or possibly lose such a small margin it's not worth the time. There is a comp baffle you can get for propipe. May lose slightest bit of low end but I would verify with V&H.
Definitely good advice there. For the $800 a good set of heads will give 5:1 on your return..
That is with the cam upgrade your already doing...

Thanks fellas, I emailed Bassani and they said the gain (if any) would be negligible, and only on paper. I'm not looking into head work, just a straight bolt on. So I reckon I'll get a couple of other doodads and call it good. Can't wait to get these cams installed and see what I get on they dyno rack. Thanks again.
