I did them on my Ultra recentley, and yes TEDIOUS
is a good description. I would do them again as they
are not that bad, as said earlier, just don't rush it.
If you are thinking about the chrome clam shells
also just wait and do it all at once, that's my .02
I have had to replace the cruise switch as I messed it
up and am gonna replace the audio selector on the
right hand control also, they are small switches that are
easy to mess up if you get a little too manly with them
"if ya know what I mean"

well..I'm still staring at the package with the chrome switch caps in it...lol Havent gotten up the courage to try it yet....Just for the heck of it I called two dealers to see what they charged....one said $80...the other said $100! WOW..I'll smash them before I pay that to have them put on...another buddy of mine just had a bunch of work done on his StreetGlide...had Yaffe bars, painted inner fairing..new speakers, amps, tweeter pod...all kinds of goodies put on...he had chrome clamshells put on as well and asked for the switch caps too...the dealer told him not to do them because they never work right...lol My guess is they just dont want to mess with them....that was the dealer that told me $100

Its not technically difficult just frustrating. I'd rather swap my chrome front end than mess with those switch covers again.

As long as you remember to put it back together in the order you took it apart. Also, the absolute best tool you can have to do this is a magnetic phillips head screw driver. Tiny screws & no space to work with. But if you have the screw driver, it's no big deal. I read that some guy thought the Kuryakyn's were cheap looking. I don't see that at all in mine. They are very, very nice. I would be willing to bet that if you took the Kurys & put them side by side with the Harleys, you couldn't pick out which is which. Now, it did take 1.5 hours to do the brake side. Mostly that time was trial & error. But once I figured it out, it only took about 15 minutes to do the clutch side. Keep a camera with you if you don't feel comfortable. Pictures are the best way to see what it's supposed to look like when it's finished.
I suspect the guy flaming the Kury housings was not talking about the OEM type housings you and I have but rather the clam shell type enclosures Kurakyn makes that entirely cover the original housings.....now those are pretty cheesy.....but also very easy to install.

Not that difficult. Just take your time and pay attention to wiring routing. Slow and painstaking but doable.
