anyone ever install the chrome switch covers themselves? The ones for hand contols. I thought it'd be piece of cake but instructions say need service manual and I'm not sure I wanna get in over my head....instructions are a bit confusing....I'm not most mechanicaly inclined person...but I have done a few things on bike...even installed my own Biketronics radio stuff...any suggestions?
I don't recall needing the service manual, can't imagine why you'd need it. It's not a complicated job, just time consuming and, possibly, frustrating! It helps if you have 3 hands, all with tiny fingers.

+1 STRO1965 .....I did it once, and would only do it under gun point again !
Just a couple small screws which go better with a third hand holding things lined up. Maybe a couple of photos of how the wires are situated inside the cover so when you put it back you are not likely to pinch one. Not that hard really.
I did it on my soft tail. The manual just tells you to disconnect throttle manual and a few other tips. The clutch side is not too bad but the throttle side is something else. Little bitty hateful reach switch screws and c clamps for cables that are near impossible to remove. You need small t handle torque wrenches to do it without flipping little tiny screws across the shop floor. And watch out for the small v shaped brass switch springs. It took me about 2 hours and 50 cuss words. When time came to replace bars and switch covers on my RKC with electronic throttle, I paid the shop to do it. Life is too short.
Just changed mine on Friday. I had the Kury covers for a year. (Got as a gift). It is not that hard. Just take your time. The clutch side is not bad at all, the throttle side is a different story. There are a lot of wires to get back into that small area. There is only a few screws in each side.
I would not suggest the Kury covers. They are a cheap looking cover and they make it hard to get to the audio switches. IMO.
Same as above with most replies. Just have some Vaseline to help hole those tiny screws on the phillips head screwdriver as you try to ease in to start them .
hmmmmmmmmmm thanks for all the replies guys...not sure if I'm gonna endure the agrivation or just have the dealer do it and save myself the high blood pressure...lol
