The adjustable one, Yes! The non-adjustable was awful.
I haven't had my adjustable one off my bike in 3 years.. Love it!

I can't imagine doing a road trip without a backrest. And a sheepskin for the seat.

I have a HD nonadjustable that I'm very happy with (it actually is adjustable, you just have to adjust it with an allen key - can't be done on the fly).

Default Harley Back Rest

I have the HD model, I almost always ride alone, so can't use a passenger. I feel more connected to the bike when I don't slide back in the seat. I had a back rest for over 10 years on different bikes, can't imagine riding very far without one. They do take some time to get adjusted when you get one, if not adjusted properly, they are not comfortable. One you get them adjusted, then they work great.

I bought one for our last 3k trip just to see if it was worth having.
I should have bought one years ago!
My wife even likes it.She said it makes her feel more secure nestled in between hers and mine.
I wasn't sure how to take that at first........until I set on the back to check it out!

It does come off with the luggage when we get home though.
For day to day use/short trips,I prefer to go without.

If your planing a week or two of 10-12 hour days in the saddle,it's a game changer! Lower back support really helps on long hauls.

Ditto on all the above. The backrest makes those long stretches of superslab much more enjoyable. Just lock in the cruise, crank up the tunes, put the feet up, and lean back on the backrest. BTW, the drivers backrest supports the lower back. Boobies should be a bit further up unless your mighty tall or she's might short or, heaven forbid, they are hanging awfully low.
