I checked the regulator with my Ohm meter and showed that I have no resistance which I read to mean that I have a good ground

I performed the Regulator Bleed Test but I did not have a test light that works at that low a voltage so I used my meter and did find voltage but it was not much.

I did the milliamp test and am not sure that I did it right but every time I connected my amperage would go to zero.

So at this point I beginning to think my entire charging system is hosed and now I am not happy because I am going to wind up replacing it all at this point.
It's your stator. Start with that first.

Maybe true but it does go a long way towards getting rid of a lot of the road grime and I use care around the electrical.

Stator or Rotor? There is one thing about all this that has me wondering. Last year I had to replace my timing gear cover and after I did I started getting this whining sound that changed pitch as the RPM's increased or decreased so now I am thinking that it may be my charing system that is making that noise because it is a very similar sound.

Had to order a stator none of the area dealers has one in stock. They all say that they usually have one in stock. It appears that I had to break down at the time they were out. I have one on order but won't get it until next week and I need it now.

How do you get your entire charging system is shot? What is the output voltage at 1000 RPM? If the stator is shot you need to stop right there, all the other voltages will be off.

I said I am beginning to think that the entire thing is shot. I did't say it was. Once I found that I was not getting proper output I knew that I was going to have to replace the stator. I'm not thrilled about that and as it turns out the dealer was out of stock so that have to order one in. Once I get the stator replaced then I will be able to determine the rest. I also need to get a lower voltage test light so that I can do the bleed test correctly.

It figures though that just now the weather is starting to show some promise of getting better and I break down. It just couldn't happen when it was worse out and I would have been a little more willing to take my truck. Now between my commuter car and my bike I have two out of three of my vehicles down.
