...spending 200 dollars is better than using the warranty? that makes no sense.

especially if obama and congress freeze our pay. which would really suck for us underpaid military men and women

*UPDATE*

Bike runs like a champ now. No more loud grinding/knocking in the primary. No more clunk, gears shift firm and smooth. Clutch pull is smooth and feels good. I'm glad it all worked out, especially for free.

Congrats! I am going the on-line $220 route (never found one for $199) simply because Mother Road will not do it. They were "close" but the only symptom they considered was if the starter (or compensator?) made a spinning sound when the motor was turned off.

The one thing they are hanging there hat on is the one thing I never read or heard of in any of these compensator threads. Go figure.

Yeah i called and talked to 2 dealerships. One agreed to 'disassemble, clean, and reassemble' the compensator. When I asked about upgrading to the SE, he told me i would have to pay the full price. When I told him about all the complaints online, and that HD now puts the SE in the 2011 bikes, he didn't seem interested.

Hampton Roads HD, on the other hand, told me to bring it in and they would take care of it. And they did.
