Just curious, who else has had their Ultra's front end come up and surprise them?
Now I admit, I did my first TTS tune on this new 08' last fall. She's been hibernating over the winter. but on a ride a week or two back, with my lady on the back, I really got on it from a dead stop...there was a second of slight hesitation and then up came the front end. I never thought it would, figured it would burnout before that ever happened.
Anyone else feel they have a crisp tune on their heavy Ultra?
Not an "Ultra" but, before the 103 build on my FLHT, I got the front end off the ground on a pissed off take off. Rinehart TD, SE A/C, SE255's, PC-V with auto tune mapped by Fuel Moto.
Had both wheels off ground about a foot last year riding the Pine Crest Indian reservation, looking at map hit a nice foot deep dip at 45mph, bike went airborne, i did hand stand on the bars, luggage flew off, all bags popped open and spilled some contents. Got it under control after lucky landing and stopped to change underwear. Installing Ohlins #3 shocks and a custom recetech front end with Ohlins springs before I head up there this summer. Did my Dyna already, got it perfect will do Ultra as soon as I get back from Dragon in a month.
Never had enough motor to get the old 89 to lift the front end. I did intentionally jump the old girl over rail road tracks and caught air several times! Relivin the motorcross days.
The new SG isn't even broken in yet, so we'll see if the front end will get up, but I'm not counting on it.
Had my stock 07 do it a couple of times. The extra weight of a pssenger over the rear wheel plus the fulcrum effect is just enough to shift everything.
Maybe it's time to do the "Spring Twinkie Diet" after such a long winter With enough RPMs and the right clutch slippage, it's not really hard to launch the front tire.
