Street Glide steering shimmy

My brother in law recently crashed at 35 MPH. He said that the front end began shaking violently by the time he was able to get control he hit the curb and totaled the bike when it flipped. He broke his shoulder blade and fingers on his right hand. We checked the bike and could not identify what could have caused it. Has anyone had the shaking front end problem?

I had a worn out front tire that did this on my 07. It didn't look worn out but it was. Dealer checked the bike out and said it's your tire. I changed it shimmy gone. Of course I had 26k miles on the tire.

I know the bike is partly toast now.....but if the tire is good you may want to check the steering head adjustment.....just my $0.02

Mine is an 07 and I've had it happen twice. The first time the neck bearing needed adjusting and the second time the front tire was worn. It'll scare the **** out of you, that's for sure. Glad he wasn't hurt any worse.
