I have had my bike for 4 years and yesterday was the first time I officially waxed it. In the past I have used Pledge and Meguiar's quick detailing wax spray but that is it. Don't get me wrong as I keep it clean but just got around to this. I really get no pleasure out of washing my bike any more than I do cleaning my guns. 51 years old and I don't believe I have ever waxed any vehicle I have owned. I am not actually lazy but these are just a couple things I hate to do. I must however admit that waxing it sure made it look good, especially since I just had it repainted last year. I guess I am wondering how often some of you that are not so lazy about this as I am actually wax your bike.
I have my bike detailed by a friend twice a year, better then showroom.
Polish and wax everything including the frame and wheels, removes the bags, seat, side covers and the tour pack $75.00.
This also helps a brother out as he is unemployed.

Ehhhh....maybe that's why you had to re-paint your bike last year? Just saying....
I think I wax every other wash so my avg is probably once a month, during riding season. Don't fret - detail & pledge are pretty much the same as waxing to you're maintaining w/o knowing...
I wax mostly front fairing and put some chrome polish on front end and exhaust before every long ride it makes easy remove bugs on the road. I also use pledge and spray on wax to clean it regularly instead of washing.
I Simonize (for real hard wax - apply and rub till it shines) once a year. No need for more! Dirt almost washes itself away when washing. I still gotta wash and make sure it's dried properly and polish the chrome (for water spots), but, that only takes 20 minutes or so.
Simonize - a bitch of a job
Payback - priceless

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, and I don't want to steal this thread and turn it into a cleaning product thread, but is this pledge the stuff that is used for dusting/polishing wood furniture? I've never heard or thought of using this stuff on anything other than wood.
