Your legs are wrapped around the rear cylinder, even with all the items described above the fact still remains. What I found that positively affected engine heat was raising the tank up off the the engine. The air scoops over the top and swipes the heat right out of there. No offense to the good Captain but, wrapping the rear piston with a huge leather flap is a placebo and no one ever addresses the potential harmful effects to the engine by not allowing heat to easily escape. The rear jug is so much hotter than the front even before you wrap it that it requires a different fuel map to assist with heat generation. Its the main reason the MoCo implemented the parade mode, why would you want to wrap that area with huge flaps?

I take mine off in the winter time, but it doesn't take long to put them back on when summer hits. Great product Captain.

I put mine on over the factory air deflectors also. Keeps the boys cool and adds to the look of the bike.

Got one one my Heritage. Looks good AND works GREAT!!! Can't go wrong with Captain Itch products in my opinion. Both he and his wife are awesome. They also stand by their products.

I have one of these from the Captain, and I have nothing but good to say about it. Definitely keeps the crotch and thigh area much cooler. I won't ride without it now.

Wrapping the rear cylinder with your legs is desirable? No thanks, I'll put a piece of leather in between my legs and the heat of the engine. It isn't a big "flap", it's a shield for your legs. Put me down for one Cap'n.

Down here in Phoenix Captain Itch cooler is a must for cross winds and in town
rides, I built a small steel strap for a where point that mounts to the middle bolt
on the rocker cover so the leather won`t chaff the chrome, also tied the two flap together so it doesn`t slap under my leg at freeway speeds/high winds.

Damn, can't spend one day in here without buying something. Looks like I'm next. Lately it feels like chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
