HD Noob question... Throttle Roll-off Position?
* ENABLING/DISABLING EITMS: 1). Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and push engine OFF/RUN switch to the run position (do not start the bike). 2). Push the throttle to roll-off position and hold. 3). After “approximately” 3 seconds, the cruise indicator lamp will either flash green (EITMS enabled) or red (EITMS disabled). Flashing lamp indicates EITMS setting. A solid (non flashing) lamp indicates cruise control setting. 4). Repeat procedure to enable or disable EITMS. The EITMS setting remains in effect until changed and does not need to be re-done with each start-up.
* Also. the EITMS should automatically activate whenever the bike comes to a complete stop and is idling during elevated temp. This should happen even if you don’t set as described above.[/COLOR]
Good info from "2black1s" If you just want the temporary setting then go with this.
Now I'm confused
Does this mean that the EITMS will activate even if you have it disabled?
Personally I'm going to activate it (engine off) and leave it the heck alone, that way I don't need to worry about it.
Can anyone else with more experience add to the confusion???

However, I went out this morning and activated the system (engine off). Then started the engine and rolled off all the way, it flashed red indicating it is deactivating. So now I went back (engine off) and when I rolled off it flashed green (indicating it is activating). What does this mean to me? It tells me that once the engine is running and you roll off it will deactivate the original (engine off) settings. Make sense, wow

So now Im thinking once you activate the system (engine off mode) just leave it the heck alone, dont role off when the engine is running.
Anyone, can anyone else add to the confusion

Think of it like this - When you set the EITMS with the ignition ON/engine OFF, that becomes the "hard" setting. If you change that setting with the engine running it is a "soft" setting and will only remain in effect until you turn the ignition OFF, at which time the system reverts to the "hard" setting.
Anytime the system is "hard" set to OFF, the EITMS will not activate no matter how hot the engine gets - unless you do a "soft" set with the engine running. Then it will activate, but only during the current ignition cycle.
In order for the EITMS to activate you need to enable it with either a "hard" or "soft" setting as described in the previous post (#14).

Anyway, your response makes perfect sense. Good info and this should clear this up.

When the throttle handle is positioned at idle (engine on or off) I can roll the throttle past idle and further 'closed' (?) than where the spring takes the throttle handle back to idle... this doesn't seem to change anything when the engine is idling, cadence, note, idle speed all stay the same..."
I guess the obvious answer is that you are no longer riding your Honda....
But...To explain, your Honda had a cable to control your throttle, your HD has fly by wire throttle, so no cable. The negative position of the throttle sw., allows for other functions such as EITMS.
