I bought the America Rides waterfalls maps and had a blast rideing to different waterfalls on the east side. Fantastic views and roads too.
Did the Devils Triangle one day and the waterfalls another. Spent a week riding all over. We rented a house in the Maggie Valley area. $300.00 for a week.
Still gotta check out the Wheels Thru Time, haven't had time yet. Too busy riding.
I'm gonna do the dragon and surrounding roads as part of my annual summer 10 day road trip with my brother. Spending 3 days in that area and staying at Iron Horse motorcycle Lodge in Robbinsville, NC. I can't wait to enjoy the scenery.
Got a question about the dragon - my other brother who lives in China and hasn't ridden in 3 years except for 2 days last summer while in town (otherwise rode for several years prior to leaving the US) - well, he just told me he plans on taking a month off of work and wants to join me and my other brother on our trip. I told him our plans on doin the dragon and that that part may be too dangerous for him.....what do those that have done it think? I suppose he could wait at one end while my other brother and I make a round trip?

Dude you can go as slow as you want,it is not bad as long as you don't think you are superman. Like others have said there are ALOT of pretty places to ride around there other than the dragon.
We are also going back in May and can't wait, but no plans for the dragon this trip, i wanna try the waterfall ride.
Will be up there with part of the Fla Crew next Sat for the week, stop by and say hello. Its a great area to run, there are better roads than the dragon up there but the Dragon is nice. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/the-f...il-2011-a.html

Will ride with MasterBlaster anywhere unless wants to do 40 miles of gravel road
I was on 'The Dragon' last summer and there were either three or four commercial photographers spaced along the road. If you go to their webs you can always get some cool pics. Just check by date & time of your ride. They then divide by types of bikes so it is easier to locate your pics. Prices are reasonable for a few shots.
As someone mentioned, they have professional photographers on the Dragon taking pictures as you ride. I did checkout one of the websites and found our pictures. I will post some if I can figure it out.
What I found scared the crap out of me. I have V & H Monster Ovals on my FLHX. My friends are always telling me it looks like my pipes are going to hit in the turns. A few of my pictures showed about a 1 -2 inch clearance in the turn. What scares me about that is I wasn't pushing it nearly as hard on this first run. Hitting the pipe would take weight off the rear tire and I'm sure that could have ruined my day.
I go every year and won't miss it for anything. Will be down this year the 2nd week of May. Such a great place and the roads nearby are amazing. If you want to try another sick road, hit up "the Snake" (TN Rt 421).
