Default NEW FLHP Owner ???

Hello all,
I am picking up my 2009 FLHP next week but have a couple quick questions.

1. I need the seat or bike lowered. I cannot flat foot the bike. I have read many posts on things to do. But maybe I should start with replacing the seat first. What do you think.

2. I want a slip on exhaust that has some *****. Loud but not too loud to wake up the next town....I heard the newer FLHP's have a different exhaust route than earlier ones so it would depend on a model specific recommendation correct?

There are several threads here on the differences between the newer and older models, and the FLHP Vs the FLHR. Your bike will NOT have a cat in the header, so you can pick any slip on muffler and get good results. I really like the sound of the V&H twin slash, and they are only $400. I suggest converting to a civilian seat and getting a stock seat from a Street Glide to start. Then see if you need to lower the suspension.

IMO vance and hines is top notch. You can find a lower seat pretty easy and cheap on here or ebay , lowering kits and shocks start to get into some $ if you want the good stuff. I have a street glide with a lowering kit also (dont know if its a good idea though).

I don't have a service manual yet. But what part number for the stock Street Glide seat will work with my FLHP?

Yes indeed. The newer police bikes sit very high. I am 5'11" and was on my tip toes. I definately wanted to keep the police theme so I lowered the rear 1" with Progressive 440s. I put the regular height Progressive Monotube Cartridge shocks in front which lowered the front approx 1/2". That help a bit. i put a 2 into 1 V & H Propipe on and am very happy. Got rid of some weight and sounds great - mean and deep. I also put on HD Heavy Breather and did the SE Stage 1 Recalibration. Just to cool it down in closed loop, I also did XiEDs. For sound, you can go to www.Biketronics.com and get a police bike setup. I used their mounting hardware and my own Sony 3 way 75/300 watt speakers and put Sony component tweeters I had laying around from a previous project in the empty gauge pods. Lastly, if you keep the police theme air ride seat and want a matching rear, Mustang makes one that matches the basket weave pattern on 08 and older police bikes. You can find older police air ride seats on www.ebay.com cheap. I picked up my as new old stock. i put on RoadKing rear pass floorboards too. Lastly, I went with HD LED tail light and tip light in the rear and Truck-Lite front LED headlamp and Passing lights. Now, I am satisfied and done for now. Pic below is before some mods were done. Oh Damn, just realized you got a FLHP not a FLHTP.

I'd replace the seat 1st, unless you want to keep the air ride seat. You'll probably gain at least an inch.

I went with the Fuelmoto slipons with powercommander and intake. Easy install and couldn't be happier.

One of the first things to go on my bike was the air ride seat. I liked how comfortable it was, but hated the riding position (up and forward) and also could not get over how ugly it was. I tried a Mustang solo, and it was quite a bit better, but still not quite right. Next was a Corbin, which cost a bit more than the Mustang, but the fit was perfect. It took a few weeks to break in, but once it did, it was perfect. I'm probably sitting 3 inches lower than with the air ride seat and back a couple.

My FLHP is an 07 and I picked up some Cycle Shack slip ons on e-bay for 80 bucks. I'm happy with the sound and the price.
