120R as a touring platform?
I went for a 5 day, 4 night jaunt south. My desire was to look for sun...
I left Vancouver, it wasn't raining, but cloudy. I rode south as far as Portland night 1. Nothing to sophisticated, I-5 and a lot of 80+ MPH riding. The stereo rocks [Hawg Wired] and the exhaust isn't too loud at all [SuperTrapp SuperMeg - 35 Discs]. I also cleaned the SE Heavy Breather, and oiled it prior to my departure. I dunno if it is relevant, but nonetheless...
This thing just has gobs of roll on power. Sixth gear even. Just bare down, and BAM!! You're moving over 90 MPH. I did a quick run up to 126 MPH. I got 'er over 200 km/h. Lotsa Speed Tax Collectors, so I didn't go too crazy...
Headed over to Coos Bay, and then south. I didn't do this leg of the coast in 2009 I headed in to Coos, and north. The Metzler tires held the road, and the bike was very mild mannered on the curves when I wanted it to be.
The Redwoods were huge, and it was nice and cool under the canopy. I kept an eye on the temperature, and it never got above 115 Deg C. [216 F] I have an Oil Cooler, and am running Amsoil.
I found I was getting 350 km / 4.5 Gal of gas. [My bike is in km... 218.75 mi] That seems high, but it was the easy coastal riding, not the crazy speedfreak riding. I'll try to keep better tabs on it.
The Highway 101 branches at Leggett, and becomes the #1 Pacific Coast Highway. Pretty twisty I felt, but everyone is different. I came across a lot of sport cars, logging trucks, and sport bikes. No Harleys... Oh well. I was rewarded with more ocean scenery once I cleared the twists of the PCH.
Time was a factor, I got to Fort Bragg, and realized I better turn back north. I returned to Eureka, and stayed in the same hotel, that I did the previous night. I got my tires topped up @ Redwood HD, I forgot my pump... and contunued north to Newport OR.
The last day I headed up the coast for a bit, and turned inland after Lincoln City. I gotta say, there is some great roads there. I recommend them to everyone.
The 120R got to stretch it's legs once again, and the power is pretty awesome. It is calm when you want it, and impressive when you crank on it. No problems to report [knock on wood]. It is a little unnerving having a 'race only' engine, but so far it is a very capable touring bike. No wheelies or burnouts. Only Hydrocarbons and some bugs were hurt during this ride.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
My fuel mileage was between 38-41mpg. I was consistantly adding .4-.6 of a gallon more on fill ups than the other 2 bikes.I dont think the 120 does to bad in the fuel mileage department in full touring mode.
The best fuel mileage was the 106 equiped streetglide.
I am going to change to the tman 662-1 cams. I think for touring the bike will be much improved with the torque coming on earlier.
