Default '06 vs '07 RKC

Hoping to get some feedback on if there were any major difference between the '06 and '07 Road King Classic. Or more importantly any standout issues with either model year.

Looking at two low mileage bikes and trying to do a tie breaker. The '07 has a few more miles and is priced a little higher.

Thanks for any help.

06=88 cubic inches 07=96 cubic inches. both were six speed transmissions and as far as any other differences i don't think there was anything significant. check to be sure though i could be wrong but i'm almost certain that the 06 motor was an 88 vs 07=96

You are correct about the motors sizes but they were not both 6 speeds. The 06 touring models were 5 speeds and the 07 were 6 speeds. The 07 have the new hydrolic cam tensioners.

Find out if the 07 owner has added the IDS sprocket. Not a huge deal but a nice improvement.

Speaking as the owner of an 06, go with the 07. It's a no brainer. 07 gives you a 96 motor instead of an 88. You get a six speed tranny instead of a five. And you get hydraulic cam chain tensioners instead of the spring loaded grenades... uh, I mean tensioners on the 06.

Have someone check the runout on the crank before you decide to get the 07. That issue started showing up on the 07s. And it could be a very costly issue.

The 07 is a better buy unless the 06 has had the spring tensioners changed to the 07 & later hydraulic versions. I wouldn't worry too much about the crank runout unless the bike vibrates more than the normal HD vibration. What are the miles on both of them? The more info you include in a question the better answers can be, example: 06 15k miles $13,500 07 20K miles $14,500.
