I'm thinking of buying the K&N performance filter for my 09 FLHX. I've tried to do a search in "threads" but really haven't found anything worthwile to me.
The part number is 63-1122P, and is the 90 degree cone shaped model. They say it shoulc improve hp by 12+.
My question to those that have it is whether it is worth the $250+?
I would say their 12 HP claim from just the air filter is questionable at best.
Dont get me wrong, I have a K&N filter and they are a worthwhile alternative to the HD offerings. I dont have the "bullet" or cone shaped one, just a traditional circular shaped one with my "football" type HD cover.
If you have one you will never have to spend any money ever buying another airfilter. They are well made and can be cleaned over and over as needed for years to come. They are not cheap, but they work well and they last.
I would go with the HD screaming eagle type backing plate and a less expensive round K&N filter...just my 2cents worth.
I agree that +12 is not gonna happen. However, if you want a K&N cone, then it is definitely worth the $250, and besides, it will look killer on your SG.
Go for it!
And thanks for serving our country in the US Military!
I put the larger K&N on my 06 RKC. the one that is wider. I have the 95 inch stage II tune and my ride feels like it has more torque at higher RPMs, but that is just a feeling...BUT...it did move the air cleaner cover out further and to ride comfortably without bowing my right leg, I installed floorboard extenders on the right side and modified the brake mount to move a Kuryakin brake pedal cover about one inch to the right.
