Default MM EFI Replacement

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I have searched a number of threads and the internet as well, but am not able to find an answer. I have a 99 Road King Classic that I am getting ready to sell. I had an issue with idling an sluggish performance, so I took it to the dealer. The mechanic told me that the MM EFI had a leak and needed to be replaced. The price tag was upward of $1,600.00. I do have a shop manual and know that I can swap it out myself, but am trying to find an MM EFI. Does anyone know what the part number would be, or where I can buy a used one in good condition? I am not in a position to pay the $1,600.00 to get it fixed, only to turn around and sell it. I do plan to take it in for a final tuning after I have replaced the part.

I hope my inquiry makes sense, and look forward to any assistance that can be provided.

it would be much cheaper to convert it to a carburetor.....most that have converted use a Mikuni carb designed for the year HD you have with appropriate cable and manifold....all are available through various aftermarket supply houses... I know of guys who have done this and the bike runs great....

You've answered your own question! Presumably your dealer can supply the correct parts, if they can also repair your bike. That is why they know the cost! There may be on-line discount dealers who can supply, to further reduce the total cost? On occasions like this the parts list is a worthwhile companion to the service manual, as it gives you the parts breakdown and part numbers.

See a few of the complete MM injection units go on e-bay for anywhere from 200-400 dollars. Just keep looking.

Fellow Vette owner, I may have some MM parts in my warehouse available if interested. Will be there tomorrow, want me to look and get back with you? Do you know where your leak is?

A lot of parts compose the M & M fuel injection
Could you explain what exactly has a leak?... an M & M fuel leak could be anything from the fuel line which is about $400 for HD part plus labor or same part as aftermarket for about $160 from j & P cycle..is it an air or fuel leak? bunch of o-rings by injectors? regulator? pump? internal fuel pump/lines? injector?--fuel line is common.
What exactly is $1600..is that parts and labor? or is it parts, labor and another service like the 10,000 mile service...part numbers are available in parts book or it is possible someone has the $50 parts book and will look-up for you.

There was a guy who just posted that he replaced his M&M system with one from S&S and loved it. What exactly is leaking?
