Been a long winter and I'm a year round rider, so its time for the spring cleaning (not that you have to be a year round rider for spring cleaning). My 07 EG Ultra is cleaning up and looking good except for the pipes. I pulled the bags off, and DANG! They are rough looking. Mother's Chrome Polish didn't even come close to making them look all nice and chrome. Anyway, I'm asking for some help and ideas to help me get my pipes nice and shiny again without replacing them. They are V&H True Duals. They look nice except where they are under the bags. Thanks in advance.
Sorry I don't agree with steel wool. I have the same problems. It's seem like all the road tar & crap get on there. If that's the problem I have some stuff from meguiars bug & Tar remover
Would recommend posting pics of what is wrong with the pipes as there are different products for different "stuff" that gets on your pipes. Normal dirt/water marks/grunge I would use Simichrome polish and should take it right off.
Okay, some may laugh at this, and I have never seen this in the DIY forum either.
I use Easy off oven cleaner. it only works when the pipes are hot.... so warm your bike up, park it, spray on the easy off, let sit for 10 minutes then I use a damp thick terry cloth towel and wipe it off.
Takes off boot brns, smudges, small scratches, tar, nicotine or anything else i have had on my pipes. shines great and does not scratch the chrome.
