Well you have enough advice there to be getting on with! Frankly your question was too open, so if you narrow the field you can get more specific replies. In broad terms there are Evos, TC88s, TC96s and '09 onwards (new frame plus lots more). Select one of them and come back!

I would say that my search would possibly include all of those. I basically want the most dependable/easiest bike to work on in the garage. Is there a huge difference between the twin cam and the evo in terms of working on it? The 09s and later are appealing in terms of frame, wider tire, 6th speed, and most comfortable touring bike. The DIY'er in my has myself searching for the carbed evo, and avoiding the throttle by wire and other luxuries, etc.

The one thing I would avoid is a Honda.

As an Evo owner I say you should look no further! If you buy one and promise to be good, why we will even welcome you over in the Evo Forum!

Edit: forgot to mention the bigger rear tire...

Anyway, if your budget will allow it I would go for the Limited and you shouldn't have any regrets.
2010 and up new frame +quite 6th gear +1 on ABS
