Fingerless gloves; I don’t see the purpose in them. If you’re going to wear a glove you might as well cover all of your hands, they do have some decent summer gloves. But hey, it’s your flesh coming off your hands, not mine.
I wear the short ones due to the fact that years ago when i started wearin them you couldn't buy cool summer gloves. Gloves were for winter time. Got into the habit and never changed. As far as losing skin, every crash i've been in, and there have been some bad ones, it was my palms hitting the ground. Never skinned a finger.

Fingerless gloves rock. Gel palms make the ride more comfortable, and my fingers are free for nose-picking. Best of both worlds.

I went with the Fox Creek Leather over-pants and they work great. Well made and with their supple leather, they are fairly stow-able too.

Fingerless gloves just aren't my thing. Had a few of my own get-offs that could have taken a digit, and seen too many hamburger hand photos for my taste.

I type slow enough with my fingers as are right now - never mind all wrapped in gauze and bandages.

I just wear vented/perforated gloves when it gets hot.

I wear Fox Creek Chaps and love them. Took a bird in the knee last year at 80 mph. Still hurt but with just jeans on might have been ugly. Not to mention with chaps it was an easy cleanup. With jeans probably would have got tossed in the can with all the blood on me. Wear fingerless gloves for working out. Gauntlets on the bike. Shorty's when it's too warm for a jacket which is rarely up here. I have a few friends that would absolutely love to be told they should be in a gay pride parade or the village people for wearing their chaps. I'm thinking they could influence anyone into changing your opinion or at least not voicing it. LOL.
Me, I really don't care what you wear.

Assless chaps and fingerless gloves are just part of the culture. Take it or leave it. My buddy and i still wear them. His dad use to ask us why we wore them pudd wackers. Funny ****!!!! Chaps have been around since the early western days, stood the test of time. Must be good for something.

I think several people have hit the nail on the head. Bugs land on the chaps rather than your pants, stay more temperature stable. Half finger gloves keep your hands from getting nasty with road grime and give you the dexterity of not having gloves on.

The one thing I didn't see was chaps help to keep you from dehydrating in warmer weather. I ride a lot between Florida and Pennsylvania and I very definitely have noticed that wearing chaps on long trips helps to keep me hydrated. Wearing my jeans only I find need to drink a lot more water and still feel dehydrated when I'm done with the day's ride.

Fingerless gloves: better grip in the summer time!!!.... Chaps: I wear them when it's cold and take them off when it warms up!!! Any questions?

With the lowers seldom wear chaps but do carry them for an unforseen cold front.Best riding togs I've found are Carhart double front logger dungarees http://cabellas.com/product/Carhart1...rid=0987654321 15oz denim with 2 layers over most of your front legs, bachelor buttons if you wear suspenders.A pair of theese with under armor will keep you warm under all but the most extreme cold weather.Only down side to them are the small brass rivets on the legs that could scratch your tank, but easily removed. With the under armor they're every bit as warm as the blanket or fleece lined jeans and take up less room.Cool in hot weather also.+2 on fingerless gloves.
