There was a thread awhile back asking if the OP should buy the optional oil collection pan. Several members wrote back showing trays and what not they had made up to clamped onto their lift. I looked and can't find that thread. Anyone have pics of shelfs and/or pans they've made to put onto their lift ?
Don't remember that thread. I bought the oil tray when I got my J&S jack and it's pretty useless. Doesn't really attach to the jack very well so I never use it.
I did my 15k service about 2 months ago and thought the oil collection pan made it much easier. Positioned correctly, it will catch the fluids from all 3 holes.

Well.. there were varied opinions in that thread. Some liked it, some didn't. Others posted pics. One guy had a pic where he used a couple of quick clamps and got a board to connect somehow. Another pic was posted from a guy that found a large sized thin pizza tray and got it to fit in there. Soo.. if any of you read this, can you repost your pics.
I bought the tray at the Donnie Smith show and used it last week. It worked as advertised and kept the mess to a minimum. The lift has to be in the raised position before attaching it and must be removed before lowering but other than that I like it. It's a quality piece like the jack and the coating makes it easy to wipe clean.
The picture in that thread with the clamps, board and the plastic tray was making the point for a Pitbull jack and that you could make one for that jack on the cheap.
I was at the dealer yesterday and saw that Harley now makes a tray/storage unit that is approx 30 inches long, 14 inches wide and 2 inches tall. It looks like you would be able to drain all 3 areas at once. I would had bought one if I was not on the bike $29 http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
