Default Custom Ear Plugs - Suggestions

Good day, Riders.

It's time. With the initial stages of hearing loss now happening, I am investing in custom ear plugs.

I have obtained two quotes to date; each quote is approx. $100.00.

Since this is my first pair, "Is there anything that I should make sure off; besides a proper fit?"

One of the Audiologists said there are three differnet types - plain/custom fit (little or no hearing), vented - allowing some hearing and race receivers which can be plug into communication devices.

I would like to read what riders; whom have such ear plugs, have to say and what they would recommend.

Ride In Peace

I just have the basic ones that were moulded to my ears at a bike show.. around $45. Work great and can still hear what's happening around me.

Same here. Check with your local shooting range or gun shop. They've usually got someone around who can do it too.

An added benefit is if you fly, they are great drowning out the noise.....also muffles out the crying kid a few rows back! Rock concerts too!

Have recently experienced sudden hearing loss with tinnitus and also have been looking into this. Decided to wait till Mountainfest. Usually bike events do them $50 or so.
My audiologist wants $120 plus an Rx from the Ear Dr.
Using foam plugs for now.

The ones from the Chainsaw shops are also good.

I went to an audiologist and an ENT and paid hundreds of dollars for special molded earplugs that were supposed to block noise but let me hear traffic. I could never get them in my ears and threw them in the garbage. I bought some inexpensive earplugs from http://www.earplugsonline.com/
and I haven't used them on a long trip yet, but I like them. They are like little discs of playdoh that you roll up and smoosh in so they fit any ear. So far so good.
