I have a Tuner being installed on Wednesday. I'm happy to put the stock AC back on until then but then I'm just going to have to put the Ventilator back on before I bring it back to HD for tuning so I figured on just leaving it on for a couple days...
I hate to say it because it sounds so stupid, but i just took it on a quick run to the Walgreens and it ran GREAT. No pinging, a minimal amount of popping on hard decel. That said I'm not a mech, so I really have no idea how much (if any) harm I'm doing here.
I can't wait to get it tuned properly but for now I'd like to run the ventilator - but that said if it's going to fry my bile, I won't.
I think it's ok to run, just don't let it over heat.If your out on the highway you should be ok, if it's cool out.If your getting alot of pinging & backfiring then its running on the hotter side. Then shut it down.Just remember next time to always have it tuned when u change pipes,or the air cleaner!!!
Sounds like you got scared at the dealership because you has already made mods without considering a fuel management system. You might want to do a little homework here on the forum before you start messing around with mods that add more expense than performance....not to mention potential engine damage issues.
I have a wall escort run tomorrow and then my commute on Monday and Tuesday.
My bike is a 2011 RGU and the dealer scared the crap out of me telling me about how lean they run from the factory and not to do any mods until I got a tuner.
I put a tuner on yesterday and it crapped out on me - I can't get a new one until Friday.
I have American Custom Slip On's and catless headpipe, and a SE Ventilator.
Will I fry my bike running like this without a tuner until Friday? Should I go ahead and reinstall the stock AC until the Tuner is installed?
Thanks for any/all advise.

seems like some of the people are not reading your whole post or I am reading it wrong ,they keep telling you that you should have got a tuner, you got a tuner but it was a bad one so you had to go back to stock , do not know how fast your escort run is , highway speeds might be ok or just put your stock air box on and not worry and enjoy the ride good luck
IF u now what pinging is(wich it will if it gets hot enough)u can control it to some degree with the throttle.or shut it down and let it cool.if the weather is cool u should be good to go.
Ride the bike and enjoy it. It is amazing the hype that has been dispersed about the need for a tuner with an air cleaner and pipes. Whole industry built around a bs fear that folks that dont know any better give their money to. Its gonna melt your motor .LOL, to funny. Tuners are a great tool to get the most out of your machine but you are not going to Burn your motor up" without one for one trip. Enjoy the ride.
