I have a 2009 Electra Glide standard. Last night I rode it to an event, then rode home and it was fine. As I pulled in the driveway, it stalled due to, I believe, me not giving enough gas as I let the clutch off. It then would not start back up. It turns over and catches for a second but then dies and wont catch again. I left it on the battery tender and tried again today, with the same result. I can smell gas when I am trying to start it. It only has about 2000 miles. It is under warranty, but I wanted to check here first before I went through the agony of trying to find a way to get it to the dealership....
Kinda the same thing happened to me. After a stall (thought I was in Neutral and let the clutch out) it wouldn't start. after a number of tries it fired back up after giving it throttle while cranking. Hasn't happened since, but I haven't stalled it since either. Mine is an 06, not sure how different things are to an 09.
Try giving it some throttle while cranking, and see if that helps.
I tried that, but no luck. Some additional info: I removed the plugs and the rear one was fine and sparked o.k. The front one was wet when I removed it and I dried it off. When I cranked the engine, there was no spark...
No spark, sounds like you found the problem. Since it's under warranty, why even mess with it anymore, I'd have it going to the dealer Monday, bet it's probably something to do with the ECM, let us know what happens.
You won't get any spark if you don't have compression ie sparks plugs removed. Turn the run switch on, hold the odometer switch in, then turn the ignition on, then let out the odometer switch. The speedo should do a full sweep. Have a notepad ready. Then go through each bank using the odometer switch and write down the diagnostic trouble codes in each bank and come back to these forums to find out what they mean. To clear a code, when the code is displayed, hold the odometer switch in and it will read clear.
My google showed the same thing. It could be the fob battery. I was wondering though if your neutral light is illuminated though when you have the ignition on? I'm not certain if the bike will crank over if the fib is dead. Anyone else know about that?
