Might as well try to play it as safe as possible.

Perhaps someone is offended by one of your posts, and then they know where you live.

Don't you white yours out on the vehicle...what I mean is on the actual plate on the bike or car?

except the thousands that you drive by only have a brief second to remember or write down your plate number. you put it on the internet and you are not giving thousands access to it, but millions (or billions) and they don't even have to have a good memory, it is in persistent form.

chances are nothing bad would come of it, but why take the chance if you don't have to?

It is alleged that defendants Demetroules, Kontos, Fili and Kohler -- the accused fences -- determined which motorcycle models were marketable over the Internet and directed the “steal men” to obtain them and deliver them to specified locations. The “steal men” would then allegedly spot motorcycles around the tri-state area, copy their license plate numbers, or receive the license plate numbers from Demetroules or Kontos, obtain from insurance brokers for a $15 fee the owner’s name and home address and then go to the owner’s residence and steal the motorcycle.[/quote

Not like I can copy your tag number at the local store/pawn shop/ where ever you
happen to be. Or the police officer following you to check up on you.
Here in Daytona Beach, there are several police cars with cameras that can"scan"
your tag and automatically get info on your vehicle and who it is registered to.
Sort of useless to 'block out' your tag.....but if it makes you feel good, fine with me.

When you're sportin' the Iphone and the Facebook account, every little bit helps to minimize unwelcomed encroachment on your privacy.

What makes me feel good is that you took my light hearted remark so seriously.

Good God, I can't believe how paranoid people are... this is just amazing to me. Drive down the street and you can see what my license plate is.

BTW, my car plate is BY195. Big friggin' deal. My bike plate I don't know off the top of my head.

Really? Is everyone that paranoid? Stay in the house and don't go out if you're that afraid of life and the boogieman(men) that are out there. Jeez.

absolutely!!! I WILL NOT live my life in fear of what the troll/thief/idiot may or may not do!! I can't even think that way....and I grew up in NYC!

The only thing I do not put on the computer is SSN, passwords, account numbers, bank info. I still balance a check book (access my account by automated phone) and pay few bills online.
