What is it you think your missing? I just paid $300 just for a 250W ARC amp for my Road Glide. Stereo electrionics for motorcycles are not cheap. I mean you can cheap out on what you buy but you are going to get what you pay for. Making things waterproof or water resistance isn't easy or cheap. Regular car speakers work but they WON'T last. That is why you need to buy items made FOR motorcycles.
You're probably right. I've been looking at the arc amps. Found it for $289 on flea-bay. Also found complete system, amp, speakers, harness, and instruction at Jamestown HD for $399.

If your looking to buy this, I say save your money and go with HOGTUNES or HAWGWIRED. Hogtunes is less expensive but they have a varity of different set ups. Hawgwired is more expensive and from what I've heard they can be louder. I have the hog tunes eigth speaker system four on the fairing (tweeterpod makes four) two on the lowers (not the 7"woofers came out just this year) and two in the rear with an amp. it is plenty loud for me and I like my music loud. Hogtunes does tend to distort past 3/4 volume depending on the style of music. I wish I had the 7" woofers in the lowers to help with the bass. I am not going to change it this year, maybe next.
The Hawg wired is supposedly the best bang for the buck, but at 1K for a supersytem it is kind of expensive. Everybody that has them says no distortion. I have heard them on utube only and really cant say, but like the above post says you get what you pay for.
I have had a small issue with the tweeter od and the customer service at HOGTUNES was tops, so I willl wait and try the woofers to solve my bass issues. Quality tunes are expensive.
