like I said...you want to use it ....fine.... I really am ok with that...

The 2002 Harley manual does not include adding anti seize....the spark plug companies recommend not using anti seize....anti seize does affect torque values and it does have negative reactionary characteristics when used in different processes...IE....fire/pressure/steam

the above statements are true but.....

Maybe Harley has improved the process of the manufacture of the cylinder heads that a small amount in there is of no concern.

your right on the graphite....still don't want it in my cylinders.

I was taught not to use anti seize in certain applications - spark plugs being one of them - that's all.

The 2010 maual states on page 1-42; Apply a light coat of Silver Grade Anti-Seize (part #98960-97)to the spark plug threads. Install and tighten to 12-18 ft-lbs

this is what I have used in the past. It specifies for use on spark plugs on the bottle. Not sure it it is Silver grade or not.

Permatex® Anti-Seize Lubricant
A highly refined blend of aluminum, copper and graphite lubricants. Use during assembly to prevent galling, corrosion and seizing and to assure easier disassembly. Temperature range: -60°F to 1600°F (-51°Cto 871°C). Salt, corrosion and moisture resistant – ideal for marine use. Non-aerosol version meets Mil Spec #907E. Aerosol - Level 3*

This is what Harley calls for:
Loctite® Silver Grade Anti-Seize

Heavy-duty, metal-free anti-seize formulation protects metal parts from rust, corrosion, galling and seizing. Anti-Seize eases disassembly of slip fit, press fit and threaded joints, and provides outstanding lubrication to all metals including stainless steel, aluminum, and soft metals. Withstands temperatures up to 1600°F. Semi-solid stick for easy application.

20 gm. Stick Applicator

Universal.

MSRP US $6.95

I carry a set, in case I or someone else need them. I like those SE red wires. There is a crush washer that needs only to be used once.....

WOW! Way back when I originally asked about plug replacement frequency it was a random question due to the fact the rear plug (iridium sp?) was as bad as it was after just 9 months or so. I did not know it would generate into this wealth of information.
Anyway, thanks & I did replace them with standard Autolite plugs and will most likely do so again.
(Oh, and I did use a small amount of the gray anti-seeze as I have a bottle of it that will likely out last my grandchildren....)
