After 300 miles in the rain/snow on Wednesday, the HK radio went **** up!
After she came back to life, I am gettiing "Disc error 01" messages.
It does not fail any diags and all the switches work per the diag's available......
Don't really want to give this unit up, How long does it take a dealership to turn a radio? Of course the service tech could not answer that question this morning
I have some 700-1000 mile trips planned for the next several months and have gotten spoiled with tunes......
Before ya leave on a trip, think of a really stupid song. You know, one of those that will not leave your mind no matter how hard ya try? Sorry, I have no tunes on my bike other than the sweet sound of the exhaust....
mine did that, it was a bad disc i had in the unit, took it out and tried a store bought one and it stared working again. i also used a Scotch guard cd cleaner in it.

If the radio is under warranty and the tech can duplicate the problem.....could take a couple weeks for a refurb unit to come in.
The parts guy should be able to tell you for sure.
The other option is to send the unit to Ironcross for repair and upgrades.
If its under warranty take it to the dealer & if it is not Iron Cross can refurbish it for $250 with fast turn around and a warranty.
But here is what I'd do first;
"Disk error 01" oddly is not in RADIO DIAGNOSTICS 6.1. You say that it doesn't fail diags - what about codes?
If there was a CD in it at the time and it booted back up it could just be confused. These things are equal parts computers and radios. I would take CD out (if there is one in it) turn off the deck and pull the Maxi fuse and wait a few minutes and reinstall the fuse. Sorta like if your computer is having problems you reboot to clear out any errant data stored in volatile memory.
