Ok, I have been riding bikes for 30 years now. I'm new to H-D and purchased my first 3 months ago, a new 2011 FLHTK. I understand that all 2011 has a Cat in the head pipe and makes a lot of heat. This is what confuses me, this bike is stock and makes no more felt heat than my Goldwing. Got caught on inteerstate yesterday for 5 miles in stop and crawl traffic and the rear cylinder would kick out until I would pull up the 50 feet again and again, it was in the 90's yesterday. Air temp gauge was showing 95+. The air temp and humidity is more of a distraction. Am I not understanding somthing or this bike just does not run as hot. I am using synthetic oil also.
I also have an air cooled 4 wheeler that will burn and melt your rubber boots to your legs so I think I know if it is getting very hot.

09 Road King here. In local riding with stop and go, during the summer months the heat radiating from the rear cylinder running up the crotch (inner thighs) was very noticable. Harley makes heat deflectors for this but I opted to try Captain Itchs' (forum sponsor) crotch cooler. Really nice, heavy, piece of leather - simple concept - looks good fix to the issue. This will be my first season with it, but if it works as advertised will be WELL worth the money!
BTW - I purchased his leather lever streamers and they are BY FAR the nicest I have seen out there!
I just received this email from Fred in NC. Thank you all for your support
Without a doubt, one of the finest additions to my new 2011 Fat Boy Lo. Extremely simple installation. Top quality. I would HIGHLY recommend the Crotch Cooler to anybody who is even contemplating a product like this to keep them cool when stuck in traffic. Does what it says and it looks good on the bike too! Thanks Captain Itch!!
