19" LRS Shield Light tint installed on 2011 Sedona Orange Road King
Received my shield today from LRS via UPS. Pretty simple install as I had purchased an extra set of braces so I can change out shields pretty quickly if I want to.
1st impression is that the tint is a bit darker than I expected (as seen inside)
Once I got it on the bike and outside it did lighten up a bit
Have not had a chance to ride yet, perhaps tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday if weather clears. Hoping it works as advertised with the 'flip"
19" was the right height as with the SG seat I'm looking over the shield...21" probably through it. There is some distortion in the flip part but figure that is normal due to shape.
Think tint goes ok with the Sedona Orange? Not sure yet
Hey Dawg! I have the same shield. Just curious. Do you have any kind of haze on the shield? Mine is not crystal clear, and I heard others complain also. Looking at the first pic, it appears that yours is also a little hazy.
I'll let ya know when I get it out in the sun (if it ever comes out again) I cleaned it up a bit from finger print smudges etc with Plexus and that hazes it up a bit but I think I got most of that gone. I assume Plexus is safe for these shields?
Finally! Can't wait for your ride impressions. How much were the extra set of braces? Harley want's $70.00 bucks just for one side of the uprights. My right one has a slight bend in it from being dropped. It does not bother me $70.00 bucks worth. Doh!
I didn't buy the 2 attachment arms, just the long metal braces....cost me about 80 bucks after my military discount. I may still get the 2 arms you are talking about if I find them cheap enough
I may be able to ride into work tomorrow as I'm dropping bike off for 1k service as well
Took first long ride today with the new shield and...........................................gott a say I like the look and I like looking completely over the shield.........BUT I get same if not more buffeting with this shield than with the stock one. I had to turn around and ditch the half helmet in favor of the full face ........
Still had some thumping but not like with the half helmet........
I guess the disclaimer here that I wear earplugs on the highway....so the wind rush off the helmet is amplified in the head due to the earplugs...so maybe for you guys who don't wear ear plugs or don't mind the wind rush noise this would not be an issue...like I said I think the ear plugs amplify the thump.
So....back to the drawing board........I think a 21" shield is the next logical step......I see a lot higher over this one than I thought so 21" should be right below my line of sight....
Not sure on LRS return policy but I'll check it out
