I've read various opinions on running Dynabeads in tubes. Dynabeads website said it was safe to run their beads in tubed Motorcycle tires. Today I installed a new American Elite on my 2010 RK. I had 15,350 miles on the stock 407. I could have gotten maybe another 1K or two, But I wanted to get a new tire on. We are planning a trip down to the Florida keys soon.
I put the Dynabeads in when I bought the bike last July. I put a new Tube in. I took the old tube and cut it open to see if it was wearing a groove like previous post had stated.
Here are Pictures of my install and the old tube cut open. You can see where the Dynabeads has created a shiney area around the center. I measured the Tube thickness with a Micrometer. It measured 1MM just under 2/32 I measured the shiney area in the center as well as the outer edge's. There was some wear in the middle, but not enough to be concerned about IMO. If you were getting 30 or 40K miles out of these tires, I would probably be concerned. JMO
It was smooth as silk. I'm going to put 2 ounces of Dynabeads in tomorrow before I install the wheel back on the bike. I wanted to cut the tube open and check for wear before adding the new beads. Dynabead website says you can reuse the beads once, but I chose to buy new beads with the new tire. I bought everything from Jake Wilson. 165.95 for the tire and 7.99 for 2 OZ Dynabeads. shipping free!
That is one HELL of a bead breaker!!!!! Damn do you do truck tires also??? I use Dynabeads and am very happy with them!! Thanks for the pics!!
It works great, but I wouldn't want to use it everyday...lol. Thanks....and no I don't do Truck tires...LMAO. I originally built that to change the oil in my rear shocks. Worked great for that too!!
Thanks for the info. I have been running Dyna beads for several years in tubes without issue. My tires don't last quite as long but I agree, the ride is smooth as silk!
Question - Would it be easier to put the dyna beads in the tube before you put the tube in the tire ?
Thanks
It would be easier. I'll do that next time. I wanted to get the new tube and Tire installed first to make sure I didn't have any leaks. I also wanted to cut the old tube open to see if the dynabeads were in fact damaging the tube before putting them in the new tube.
